I’m completely confused how this is any different than Tumblr just deleting posts. Seriously.

It's not. The post completely disappears. I'm outraged.

Yeah, they made such a big deal about how posts "weren't getting deleted", when... there's effectively no difference? It's really annoying, especially since you can't even see the title of the post or anything, so there's not any way to let the original poster know which post got removed.
